SOFA’s Amazing Microchipping Campaign!

September 10, 2008

You may have realized by now that I’m passionate about promoting responsible pet-ownership, especially at grass-roots level, by going into schools and talking with children about animals.

So it gave me enormous pleasure to be contacted by a lovely lady Sue Cole, teacher at Norfolk’s Thorpe House School to ask for my support for her pupils’ Speak Out For Animals (SOFA) Club.

Sue, who stresses that “Not all kids are hoodies”, informed me of SOFA’s campaign to not only encourage more people to micro-chip their pets, but also to make it compulsory for all pets to be chipped in the first place.

These caring animal-loving youngsters already realize that if micro-chipping became law there would be a reduction in the number of lost, stolen and abandoned pets, and what’s more they’re bothering to do something about it.

To achieve their goal SOFA recently launched an online petition needing only 20,000 signatures before they can present their ideas to No. 10 itself in October, so please visit www.gopetition.com/online/19925 and help spread the word.

SOFA are also holding a microchipping day on September 10th which I’m looking forward to attending!
