Animal lovers will experience what it’s like to live a rescue dog’s life to raise funds for charity.
Eleven people will swap a night at home in their cosy beds for a night in ‘the dog house’ at Wood Green, The Animals Charity in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire on May 9th.
The two-legged guests will experience first-hand what it is like to be on the other side of the bars peering out at the world, enjoy walks with members of the dog welfare team and have their dinner served up in their kennel.
We will then let our new sleeping dogs lie in our new state-of-the-art kennels, just meters away from their canine companions.
The guest list for the evening includes celebrity vet and founder of Pup Aid, Marc Abraham, Your Dog feature writer Michael Hallam, husband and wife duo Teresa and Stuart Curtis of Oscar Pet Foods and five colleagues from Price Bailey’s Cambridge office.
Marc said: “I’m so excited about taking part in Wood Green’s kennel challenge as hopefully it’ll highlight these poor homeless rescue pets desperately needing loving forever homes.
“Rescue pets aren’t ‘bad’ pets, they’ve just been unlucky so should never be overlooked or ignored. Already vaccinated, neutered, microchipped as well as treated for fleas and worms, rescue pets are bargains, so the question to prospective pet owners should really be “Why wouldn’t you adopt one?”
Wood Green’s Corporate Fundraiser Katja Jones added: “This is a brand new challenge which will allow our willing participants to truly experience a day in the life of a rescue dog.
“We hope they’ll enjoy discovering about the level of care and dedication that goes into caring for each and every one of our dogs, while also raising funds for all of the animals that come into our care every year.”
