2012 Dogs Trust Honours: Marvellous Mutts of the UK need now apply

Call for nominations for the prestigious annual Dogs Trust Honours.

Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, which has 17 rehoming centres across the country, is calling on the dog lovers nationwide to nominate their hairy heroes for a prestigious Dogs Trust Honour here.

Now in its fifth and most fabulous year, the 2012 Dogs Trust Honours is an awards ceremony that celebrates the difference dogs make to our lives, by highlighting heart-warming stories of devotion and courage.

The 2011 event saw an amazing response from the public, and Dogs Trust is hoping to hear many more inspiring stories this year.

Dogs Trust CEO and chief awards judge Clarissa Baldwin says:

“Dogs Trust Honours is a celebration of the unique relationship between man and dog. At Dogs Trust we know first-hand the wonderful ability dogs have to lift our spirits, make us laugh, respond to our emotions and act as canine lifelines.

“It’s astonishing how much fun, love and affection dogs can bring to our lives but often they give much more, through providing vital emotional and physical support.

“Year after year, the stories we hear perfectly illustrate the myriad ways dogs help humans and vice versa.

“Dogs Trust Honours are a world away from the primp and preen of the competitive dog show world, celebrating instead the unique bond between man and dog.

“Has your dog saved lives? Turned your life around? Has he the heart of a lion, or the brain of a canine Einstein? Dogs Trust wants to hear all about it.

“Many people go beyond the call of duty too, doing wonderful things to help man’s best friend.

“They can also take a bow-wow at Dogs Trust Honours, because the charity is inviting nominations for humans that show an extraordinary dedication to our canine companions.

“We want the UK’s dog lovers and owners to share their incredible stories of canine bravery, devotion and humour. We want to hear the best stories of dedication and doggy derring-do so make a nomination now here.

“The winning VIPs (Very Important Pooches) will be the guests of honour at what promises to be the most yapped about event of the summer.”

A panel of celebrity dog-lovers has the hard job of selecting the deserving winners who will be presented with their awards at the star-studded Dogs Trust Honours ceremony, at the Honourable Artillery Company in London on 21st May 2012.
