Celebrity judging panel lined up to pick pooches on Hampstead Heath

As a massive fan of The Mayhew Animal Home it gives me great pleasure once again to help judge their annual dog show on picturesque Hampstead Heath this coming Sunday and meet such a variety of dogs with their loving owners – and all to raise funds for The Mayhew.

What better way is there to spend a Sunday?

The Mayhew Animal Home in London is once again holding their annual Sponsored Walk and Charity Dog Show on Hampstead Heath on Sunday May 15th to raise money for homeless hounds.

Every year over a hundred people turn up on the East Heath with their dogs to take part in the fun Dog Show. Judged by celebrity friends of The Mayhew, based in north west London, it is a very popular event which helps raise much needed funds for the numerous homeless dogs in the charity’s care.

This year’s judging line-up consists of Actor, Peter Egan (Ever Decreasing Circles), Daily Star columnist –and dog lover –Joe Mott, and myself.

After the Dog Show, groups set off from the bandstand for a Sponsored Walk round the Heath, enjoying the beauty of one of London’s largest parks, all in a good cause!

Hampstead resident and actor, Peter Egan, said: “The biggest smile and the waggiest tail? That’s my kind of Dog Show. I hate the pretentiousness of Crufts and the best in show nonsense. Dogs are fun and friends not trophies.”

Daily Star columnist, Joe Mott, said: “Spending a day on Hampstead Heath surrounded by dogs is one of the most pleasant ways to spend a Sunday I can think of. And doing it as a judge for The Mayhew’s annual dog show makes it even sweeter. I can’t wait.”

Where: Hampstead Heath, London (by the bandstand near Parliament Hill)

In addition to the Dog Show, there will be the chance for people to meet many of The Mayhew dogs looking for new homes and there will be a ‘Temptation Alley’ to test the willpower of the hardiest hound!”

  1. Don’t forget the Hyde Park Dog Show as part of the Connaught Street Summer Fair on Wednesday June 15th. Usual madness, celebrity judges and silly prizes. It also is in aid of the Mayhew Animal Home. It takes place right outside the newly refurbished Hyde Park Veterinary Centre at 61 Connaught St W2 2AE. 4pm Wednesday 15th June. See you there!
